I live in Coconut Grove, Florida and I love to craft, take pictures and hang out with my best friend Chris (who I am also married to) and our two spoiled cats. I work for an online scrapbook company called Scrapblog. Scrapblog.com. So here's a little blog about my life and what I find around town and online that inspires me.

    More Doodles

    Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

So, as promised here are the latest hand-drawn doodles I’ve been working on. I’m totally changing the blog header to be more doodlish. I have found a new way to be creative by drawing and of course showing it off in Scrapblog. Let me know what you think!

    Back From SISiversary 2008

    Monday, June 16th, 2008

Well, KelKel and I spent the weekend at the ScrapInStyletv SISiversary 2008. I went there with plans to basically give information about Scrapblog and talk with the SISTers and answer questions. I had no idea I would meet so many AWESOME people and make so many RAD projects. The entire weekend was completely sublime. I will post some of the projects I completed.

I think one of the funniest things was that Kelley and I did our usual quoting of odd movies. The past few weeks we’ve been slightly obsessed with Steel Magnolias. So the first night, I said to her “drink your juice Shelby” and that was basically the beginning of the end. TracyTN, God love her, knows EVERY stinking line to that movie and her voice, OMG, I really can’t describe it to you. It’s totally too funny!

Also, I realized how completely OLD I am because I absolutely CANNOT stay up all night and function in any way the next day.

I’m so happy for Jeanette and the gang over at SIStv, they really have passion about doing something different for the world of crafting. I have had such a great time getting to know JJ since her visit to Miami (see pic below of JJ & Bob & the Scrapblog crew). Scrapbooking is so much more than putting decorations on your pictures, it’s about friendship, the passion of creating something and sharing the LUB. Thanks to all for an amazing time!! I will definitely be there next year!

    Newness

    Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

Well, there is really not too much newness to report. Chris and I headed to Atlanta for some much needed R&R. I also had a meeting there so the “rest” part didn’t last very long. Here’s a scrapblog about our day on the lake. Chris and I both were really thinking we needed a boat after spending 2 days on the water. I think it’s easier to care for a boat that is in fresh water, so it’s probably a “no-go”. The trip totally renewed my love of the water and so this weekend I plan to go snorkeling with my sis that is coming in town for a quick visit. Enjoy the rest of your week!

    Now that this is finished…

    kentucky Derby Hat

All I have been working on the past week and half is thinking about this Kentucky Derby hat for our United Way campaign at work. I had a million different ideas and as I researched I decided on the Garland of Roses as my theme. I hope you click on the photo to see the entire process, my Scrapblog is about 12 pages. I really enjoyed working on this project. From the design to the completion it felt really good to be passionate about something.

The judging is on Friday. Keep your fingers crossed for me! Enjoy the Scrapblog.

Black and White Paper Bag Book

Today I was more left-brained than right. I didn’t do much creative work, other than try to find a home for a very interesting man I interviewed. Anyway, I received some beautiful decorative chopsticks and I have been wanting to create an Asian themed scrapbook. I spent the ride into work looking for an interesting binding (no, I don’t drive and read, hubby chaffeured me) in some of my older altered book magazines. I didn’t find my chopstick album, but I ran across a technique using the insides of security envelopes. I love using recycled things in my scrapbooks.

A few months ago I collected HUGE amounts of security envelopes. I especially love the ones that come from my paycheck at Royal, they have a little crown & anchor (super cute!). So I created this Scrapblog of the little project I did with my security envelopes. Hope you enjoy. As always, click on the photo to see the whole Scrapblog.

    Scrapblog of Stampin’ Up Cards

Today was my monthly Stampin’ Up group meeting. I spent most of the weekend re-organizing my office and scrapbooking / craft space. I think I finally am somewhat organized in my crafting approach. I created a space in our spare room for using all the messy tools that come along with scrapbooking. I now have a place to emboss and paint and cut all my projects outside of my scrapbook space. So after the shuffle, I planned out which projects I wanted to do today. I needed to make a thank you card and some cute birthday cards with the left over scraps from the CKC. Here are the results. Click on the photo and it will take you to my scrapblog where I’ve added more detail about what inspired me and the results.
I used these Stampin’ Up stamp sets in creating my cards:
    Best Bar Codes
    Paint Prints
    The Art of Life
    Snapshot (oldie but a goodie)
Au Chocolat Paper (I wish I would have bought more of this paper)

    My New MacBook

So after months of saving, I bought my MacBook on Saturday! I used to have the white ibook, which I purchased in 2001. For obvious reasons, I was in need of an upgrade and last year I got a Mac Mini. Although I love my Mac Mini, I really missed having a laptop. Now I can work anywhere! :)

After I organized all my projects and my crop space, I realized I have several pending projects. I can’t wait to get some of them finished. Others are going to be ongoing. I have to say that I like having things to create. I enjoy the sense of accomplishment. I will share more of my creations this week.

    My Big Fat Chunky Book

    Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

Another great class we took at CKC (Creating Keepsakes Convention) Ft. Lauderdale. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the Big Fat Chunky Book and the 10×20 Wall Hanging classes that were given by Quick Quotes. I had so many creative ideas after these classes. I really wish the classes were a little longer, because I had to finish up most of the projects at home. Like many scrapbookers, I have tons of these mini albums laying around my house without pictures. I think I take the classes more for learning cool techniques. I am going to add pictures to these projects, soon hopefully! :) I am itching for the next CKC or CKU. So much fun.
