About
I live in Coconut Grove, Florida and I love to craft, take pictures and hang out with my best friend Chris (who I am also married to) and our two spoiled cats.
I work for an online scrapbook company called Scrapblog. Scrapblog.com. So here's a little blog about my life and what I find around town and online that inspires me.

Happy Halloween!
Tuesday, October 30th, 2007
We had a fun weekend getting ready for our Halloween party. I made these cute costumes for Chris and I. I absolutely LOVE Hello Kitty. I’m not sure why exactly, but she makes happy. I was glad Chris decided to be such a good sport and be my Chococat companion. I made the hats out of felt. It was very easy and lots of fun. I am looking forward to everyone’s scrapbook layouts of all the Halloween photos!
Scrapblog is having a Halloween contest. I know that everyone takes tons of photos on Halloween, so stop by the blog, get all the details and create a cool Scrapblog and you could be featured on the blog!
Updating my blog
Tuesday, October 30th, 2007I know I haven’t been blogging lately, but it’s mostly because it’s not a simple task for me. It takes me three or four steps to upload photos and add the links and the photos aren’t always sized correctly so then I have redo them. So I am slowly migrating my blog over to iWeb 08. I didn’t want to do this before because I couldn’t imbed videos, but now it’s so easy. I can’t wait to show you my new site! I should have it completed by the weekend. Thank you for being patient and still coming back to read what I have to say. Bloggers are the best! ![]()
Monday Crafting -
Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007Monday’s craft project was very limited since I worked all day, I didn’t feel very crafty when I got home. I have seen some interesting techniques out on the blogs I read using rubbing alcohol, glossy paper and reinkers. Like you, I adore Tim Holtz and his work at Ranger, but I wanted to do something on my own too. I love to experiment with my own crazy thoughts to see what happens, so here are the results.
I took some glossy white paper and cut it to 4″x6″ size. I used my embossing powder catch tray, which has now become my chipboard painting tray. I added a few drops of 2 or 3 colors of reinkers and then poured in a cap full of rubbing alcohol. I swirled it around and then placed the paper, glossy side down in the mixture. The first pic is the result. I love the marble effect. I had these vinyl stickers that I got in a kit a million years ago, so I was happy to find a use for them.
I love fall, it’s the one thing I miss about Ohio. The colors, the falling leaves and the crisp air is heavenly! The high today here in Miami is 89, so it’s still summer to me. I think it will cool off soon. In the meantime, I am going to keep creating fall projects and hope that Mother Nature gets the hint!
Book About Me - Derby Hat Results
Wednesday, October 17th, 2007![]()
I know I had a little Blog Break. My great aunt died and I have been so busy with many projects. I’m so lucky to have so many opportunities in my life. I have been working on the About Me book from Creating Keepsakes that I bought at CKC in June. I only have this page completed so far. It’s so easy to add text to photos using Scrapblog. Afterall, isn’t the story the biggest part of scrapbooking? I hope you enjoy my journey as I create this scrapbook.
Well, I placed second in the Derby Hat contest!!!! I would be lying if I didn’t say I was a little dissapointed that I didn’t win, but I am pretty pleased that I won second. I took pictures of all the hats and I really want to create a scrapbook of them so you can see them.
Sorry I have been so lame, but I am back now and ready to create!
My Cats
Sunday, October 7th, 2007

I think they are super cute, although they looked a little bored in these photos. KC and Midnight. Can you guess which one is Midnight? I still think it’s a little strange that we have live animals just running free in our homes, but when they start purring and rubbing up against my legs, I fall in love with them.
I keep thinking that someday I might end up a crazy old cat lady. I guess that wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. Hubby would definitely surround himself with a million cats if he could. I am posting this today I guess because I am working on a project and they both sat in my craft room with me while I worked today. A friend of mine from work is in art school and so I am constantly picking her brain for ideas. One of her projects this term was to create a day planner. It turned out so cute that I had to make my own. I am using Asian themed paper that I have and I’m planning to incorporate photos from the Morikami Gardens that I took this year. It’s coming along well and I will show you details soon.
I did make a few cards yesterday, but I haven’t scanned them in yet. I spent an entire day relaxing and not working. It was very nice. I am going now to finally begin reading my book that my buddy Hansel gave me. Later, Taters!
Coral Castle
Thursday, October 4th, 2007One of my many (and growing) hobbies is photograghy. I think a lot of scrapbookers become more and more interested in photography over time as a way to improve their layouts. I started with photography first. Taking pictures was actually how I met my husband almost 15 years ago. We both worked on the college newspaper, he was the staff photographer and I did the layout design. I think I must have always been destined to be a scrapper, right? Anyway, we spent many hours in the dark room (get your mind out of the gutter! we were developing film!)
My love for photography has not changed, even in this digital age. I still love to shoot pictures with film and develop them myself. We have a darkroom in our house. Pretty rare these days, but we love it.
If you click on the photo, you will see all of the shots I took at Coral Castle a few weeks ago. Chris, as you can see here, was shooting also. He was using a Nikonos II from 1968. I was shooting with the Nikon D60. A solid camera. I plan to make the color version of this Scrapblog with the shots Chris took. He’s a talented artist. Enjoy the photos. I enjoyed taking them!
Now that this is finished…
Monday, October 1st, 2007All I have been working on the past week and half is thinking about this Kentucky Derby hat for our United Way campaign at work. I had a million different ideas and as I researched I decided on the Garland of Roses as my theme. I hope you click on the photo to see the entire process, my Scrapblog is about 12 pages. I really enjoyed working on this project. From the design to the completion it felt really good to be passionate about something.
The judging is on Friday. Keep your fingers crossed for me! Enjoy the Scrapblog.
